Transylvania Lectures: Cultural Heritage and Community Bridges – The Role of Minorities in Shaping Transylvania's Legacy
Our next discussion of the Transylvania Lectures series will explore how Transylvania's various ethnic communities have historically contributed to the region's rich cultural heritage and how they continue to shape it today. We will explore the ways in which this diverse legacy fosters dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding among the communities living in the region. The conversation aims to highlight effective communication strategies about this shared heritage to promote stronger intercultural connections.
Participants:
- Graham Bell is the director of the UK-based NGO Cultura Trust and the Hungarian Renaissance Foundation. He is part of Europa Nostra Board, the Executive Committee of the European Federation for Architectural Heritage Skills, chair of the The Bakelite Design Trust and one of the founder members of the Climate Heritage Network. He is also member of a range of international heritage organisations including ICOMOS, Europeana Network Association, and IMPACTOUR. At a European Union level, he is part of the European Commission’s “Voices of Culture” Working Group and was a participant of the European Commission’s Expert Group on Digital Cultural Heritage and Europeana. He was the UK national coordinator during the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. He is one of the founder members and a current member of FRH’s (Future for Religious Heritage) Advisory Board.
- Csilla Hegedüs, president of Transylvania Trust, received 2 Europa Nostra prizes: for the Rimetea Heritage Conservation Project and for the International Built Heritage Conservation Training centre at Bánffy castle, Bonțida. As minister of culture, she initiated the National Limes project - frontiers of the Roman Empire, included this year in the Unesco world heritage list. In 2021 as state secretary, she designed the Attractive Romania project, where over 260 historic buildings are restored and promoted. She was Board member of Europa Nostra, and for 10 years jury member of the European Heritage Label.
- Dr. Radu Albu-Comănescu, lecturer at the Faculty of European Studies, Babeș-Bolyai University, whose work focuses on promoting dialogue between ethnic communities through cultural heritage. He is a member of the advisory board of the Rațiu Forum at the London School of Economics; associate of the think-tank Visegrad Insight in Warsaw. He is active in various international NGOs and Romanian public policy think-tanks. Deputy Director of the Institute of International Relations and Area Studies at the BBU.

Transylvania Lectures: Kulturális örökség és közösségépítés – A kisebbségek szerepe Erdély örökségének alakításában
A Transylvania Lectures következő beszélgetésének fókuszában Erdély gazdag kulturális öröksége áll. Meghívottainkkal arra a kérdésre keressük a választ, hogy hogyan hatott a sokszínű etnikai közösségek jelenléte a régió épített örökségére, kulturális vitalitására, és napjainkban mi a szerepük. Megvizsgáljuk a kultúra párbeszédre, együttműködésre és kölcsönös megértésre ösztönző szerepét a régióban élő közösségek között, és szó lesz majd azokról a hatékony, értékteremtő kezdeményezésekről, kommunikációs eszközökről és stratégiákról is, amelyek a közös kulturális örökségünk helyreállítását, védelmét, értékesítését célozzák, ezzel is szorosabbá fűzve a közösségeink közötti kapcsolatokat.

- Graham Bell az Egyesült Királyságban működő Cultura Trust és a Magyar Reneszánsz Alapítvány igazgatója. Az Europa Nostra vezetőségi tagja, az Európai Építészeti Örökségi Szakismeretek Alapítvány végrehajtó bizottságának tagja, a Bakelite Design Trust elnöke, valamint a Climate Heritage Network alapító tagja. Számos nemzetközi örökségvédelmi szervezet, köztük az ICOMOS, az Europeana Network Association és az IMPACTOUR tagja. Kulturális miniszterként ő kezdeményezte az Országos Limes Program keretében a Római Birodalom határvonalát jelző régészeti leletek feltárását Romániában, amely idén felkerült az Unesco világörökségi listájára. Államtitkárként 2021-ben hozta létre a Hívogató Románia projektet, amely több mint 260 műemlék épület restaurálását és népszerűsítésé foglalja magában. Az Europa Nostra vezetőségi tagja volt, és 10 évig az Európai Örökség cím zsűritagja.
- Dr. Radu Albu-Comănescu a Babeș–Bolyai Tudományegyetem Európai Tanulmányok Karának oktatója, érdeklődési köre az etnikai közösségek közötti párbeszéd kulturális örökségünkön át való előmozdítása. Transylvania Lectures: Patrimoniul cultural și comunitatea – Rolul minorităților în conturarea moștenirii Transilvaniei
Următoarea discuție din seria Transylvania Lectures va explora modul în care diversele comunități etnice din Transilvania au contribuit de-a lungul istoriei la patrimoniul cultural bogat al regiunii și cum continuă să-l modeleze și în prezent. Vom analiza cum această moștenire diversă stimulează dialogul, cooperarea și înțelegerea reciprocă între comunitățile din regiune.
