Elites vs. Populists?
Is the defining feature of modern politics no longer the traditional "left" and "right," but a Party of Disruption and a Party of Stability? At MCC’s next Transylvania Lectures event, Professor Patrick J. Deneen proposes that both parties are essential for a flourishing political and human order, and that a renewal of the classical ideal of "mixed constitution" is important to bridge the current self-destructive political divide.
Patrick J. Deneen is Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame (U.S.A.). He is the author of several books, including Why Liberalism Failed, which has been translated into twenty languages (including Hungarian). He was Special Advisor and Speechwriter to the Director of the United States Information Agency from 2005 to 2007. He has also taught at Princeton University and Georgetown University.

A hagyományos baloldal és jobboldal többé már nem meghatározó jellemzője a modern politikának? Inkább a szétszakadás és stabilitás pártjairól beszélhetünk? Az MCC Transylvania Lectures sorozatának következő meghívottja Patrick J. Deneen egyesült államokbeli politológus aki amellett érvel, hogy mindkét párt nélkülözhetetlen a virágzó politikai és emberi rendhez, és hogy a „vegyes alkotmány” klasszikus eszményének felélesztése elengedhetetlen a jelenlegi önpusztító politikai megosztottság áthidalásában.
Patrick J. Deneen az egyesült államokbeli Notre Dame Egyetem politológiaprofesszora. Számos könyv szerzője, a Why Liberalism Failed című kötetét húsz nyelvre fordították le, többek közt magyarra is. 2005 és 2007 között a United States Information Agency tanácsadója és szövegírója volt. Tanított a Princeton Egyetemen és a Georgetown Egyetemen is.

Oare caracteristica definitorie a politicii moderne nu mai este dată de tradiționalele "stânga" și "dreapta", ci de un Partid al Perturbării și un Partid al Stabilității? În cadrul următorului eveniment MCC Transylvania Lectures, profesorul Patrick J. Deneen propune ideea că ambele partide sunt esențiale pentru o ordine politică și umană înfloritoare. Vorbitorul consideră că o reînnoire a idealului clasic de constituție mixtă este importantă pentru a depăși actuala diviziune politică autodistructivă.
Patrick J. Deneen este profesor de științe politice la Universitatea Notre Dame (SUA). Este autorul mai multor cărți, între care Why Liberalism Failed și The Odyssey of Political Theory, care a fost tradusă în 20 de limbi. Deneen a fost consilier special și redactor de discursuri al directorului United States Information Agency și a predat la Universitatea Princeton și la Universitatea Georgetown.
Moderatorul evenimentului: Béla-Gergely Rácz, economist, asistent universitar la Universitatea Babeș-Bolyai, profesor la MCC.
